Tai Chi for Health Hand Form

Tai Chi for Arthritis

In 1997, Dr. Paul Lam, a family physician and tai chi expert, worked with a team of tai chi and medical specialists to create the Tai Chi for Arthritis program. The special features of this unique program are that it is easy to learn, enjoyable, and provides many health benefits in a relatively short period of time. Tai Chi for Arthritis is based on Sun style tai chi. This style was chosen because of its healing component, its unique Qigong (an exercise which improves relaxation and vital energy), and its ability to improve mobility and balance. The program contains a carefully constructed set of warming-up and cooling-down exercises, Qigong breathing exercises, a Basic Core six movements, an Advanced Extension six movements, and adaptations of the movements for older adults. Also incorporated into the program is a safe and effective teaching system.

Tai Chi for Osteoporosis

Tai Chi for Osteoporosis is a special program designed by Dr Paul Lam, a physician and a Tai Chi master, together with his medical and Tai Chi colleagues for people with Osteoporosis. It is easy-to-learn, safe and effective. The program includes warm-up, wind-down, special precautions and a set of 8 forms derived from Yang and Sun style Tai Chi. It helps to strength bones, improve balance and improve relaxation.

Tai Chi for Energy

This program is comprised of two different tai chi styles. Chen style is vigorous and complex, combining fast and slow movements with powerful spiral force. Sun style incorporates unique qigong (life energy) movements with agile stepping. These two seemingly contrasting styles have complementary internal energy.  Using his deep understanding of tai chi principles and over 30 years of teaching experience, Dr. Lam has carefully combined movements from Chen and Sun styles to produce a powerful synergy in Tai Chi for Energy. Thus, with regular practice and in a relatively short period of time, this program will help you acquire better health and wellness, internal energy, and ability to manage stress.

Tai Chi Chuan

Simplified Yang 24 Forms

"The form was the result of an effort by the Chinese Sports Committee, which, in 1956, brought together four t'ai chi teachers to create a simplified form of t'ai chi as exercise for the masses. The creators truncated the traditional family style t'ai chi forms to 24 postures; taking between four and five minutes to perform and to give the beginner an introduction to the essential elements of t'ai chi ch'uan, yet retain the traditional flavor of traditional longer hand forms (in general, 88-108 postures)."  It is easier to learn than Traditional long form of Yang Style - and some of the movements are different than traditional Yang Style.
